Music Africa – Black History Month 2020 Event Series

Every year during Black History Month, Music Africa of Canada Inc. organizes a series of events aimed at entertaining and educating our community. Here are the events we have for this year:

Event: Discussion and Workshop
Discussion on AFROFEST 2020 and AFROFEST Africa 2020

With AFROFEST Toronto and AFROFEST Africa being our main events in 2020, we will appreciate feedback and ideas from the community. It will also be an opportunity for us to inform the community of what we are currently planning and how they can get involved.

Presentation:

  • International opportunities for artists and how to be successful with applications. How artists can position themselves to be successful.
  • Selling: How to present products and be successful as a vendor at community events.

Presentation:
Entrepreneurship and Financial Management within the Music Industry – This is a talk on how artists and managers can organize themselves to identify opportunities and create multiple streams of income in the Music Industry.

This concert features the artists who represented the Canadian music scene at AFROFEST Africa.

Partnerships:

The Toronto Black Film Festival will run from February 12 to 17, 2020. This event will feature 75 films from 20 countries and diverse musical performances.

Music Africa of Canada Inc. is co-presenting the movie MY FRIEND FELA – a film by Joel Zito Araújo.

My Friend Fela provides a new perspective on the Nigerian musical sensation Fela Kuti – the father of Afrobeat, in order to counter the most often portrayed narrative of Fela “as an eccentric African pop idol of the ghetto”..
